About Great Beginnings

As a parent of an ADD child, a teacher of children with many assorted differences, and a creative risk taker myself (ADD), I've had an insatiable curiosity about what makes these children different and how I could reach them in ways that could ensure their success and happiness. My journey has taken me through over 600 hundred books, thousands of articles and professional journals, and hundreds of audio tapes, seminars and workshops.

Watching them endure the pain and rejection of their differences and having endured my own, many of the masks of my own insecurities which kept me locked in fear have been burned away.

The book, The Gift of ADD, is important to me not only because it presents a new and much needed optimistic view of ADD - a view borne of different experiences providing the opportunity for new eyes - but also because it is a personal journey of awakening. My students, and particularly my son Glen, have been my greatest teachers. Watching them endure the pain and rejection of their differences and having endured my own, many of the masks of my own insecurities which kept me locked in fear have been burned away. In the process I am left able to come in contact with the goodness in all I now meet seeing the light in the darkness, the wonder in duality. From this place, old limiting beliefs and opinions can be replaced by new empowering ones allowing for fresh solutions.
